The iPhone as a Photographic Tool

Ok so the iPhone clearly has it's limitations as a camera and I'm not suggesting you can make 30x60 prints from it, however, as I sit here in front of my computer, going over thousands of images and hours of video, I'm amazed at how much I used the iPhone for taking pictures. All the pictures were initially taken with social media in mind, but as I look at the work now, I'm pretty sure I can use some of these images in an upcoming eBook of all the people and places I came across on my journey, and at the end of the day I always had my iPhone with me and it really was fun taking pictures with it...play is a huge part of creativity!

My favorite camera apps were the Hipstamatic app and the PikMobile app. The Hipstamatic for it's fun "tintype" film and "lens" and the PikMobile app for documenting the journey. PikMobile's tag line is "What's your story" because it takes more than one photo to tell a story. I have three months worth of posts of our journey from San Diego to Cape Flattery in Washington state. You can download the app from the app store and search either #GarethRockliffe or more specifically #GreatAmericanCoastline
